“Music has always been a big part of my life. I started playing
classical guitar when I was eight; I grew up playing stuff like Mozart, Bach and Verdi. The first time I performed on a big stage I wore a collar shirt and black pants, I must have been every mother's dream son-in-law.
When I met the guys from Frail I discovered a new side of myself, and rock became my passion. My first time playing live with Frail I experienced a rush I hadn't known before; I had only practiced once with Tarmo (without the rest of the band!) before my first gig, but suddenly there I was, playing in a rock club full of people. That's something I will never forget.
Even though
bass and acoustic guitar have something in common (strings?), it feels
totally different to play bass. I guess I could say that bass just
seems more masculine! There's no need to play tricky stuff and stare
at the instrument itself, you just hit the big fat strings and concentrate
on the audience.” |
